Information About the Use of Photographs

Xibalba 2026 — Oslo, 2 November 2026

As part of Xibalba 2026, we want to create spaces to remember and honour the people and animals who are part of our lives and our memories.

Photographs submitted through this website may be included in the commemorative activities of Xibalba 2026 in Oslo.

Where will the photographs be used?

Photographs may be used exclusively as part of the activities of Xibalba 2026, specifically:

  • On the main screen at the Xibalba 2026 event, taking place at Jakob Kirke on 2 November 2026.
  • At the webpage xibalba.no
  • At the temporary Xibalba altars, which will be installed at different locations in Oslo as part of the commemorative activities.

These temporary altars are spaces dedicated to remembering and honouring people and animals who are no longer with us.

What information is collected?

When submitting a photograph, we will ask only for the information needed to prepare the image:

  • A photograph of the person or animal being remembered.
  • Their name.
  • Year of birth.
  • Year of death.

This information will be used to prepare the photograph for display as part of the Xibalba 2026 activities.

How will the photograph be used?

The photograph may be prepared by adding the name and the years of birth and death provided in the submission form.

Once prepared, it may be displayed:

  1. As part of the visual presentation at the Xibalba 2026 event at Jakob Kirke on 2 November 2026.
  2. At one or more of the temporary Xibalba altars located in Oslo during the Xibalba 2026 activities.
  3. At the webpage: xibalba.no

The purpose is exclusively commemorative and cultural, as part of the memorial activities of Xibalba 2026.

Where will the photographs be stored?

After submission, the photograph will be stored temporarily in a dedicated space used to prepare the material for Xibalba 2026.

Photographs that have been reviewed and prepared may subsequently be moved to the directory used for photographs displayed at the Xibalba 2026 altars.

What happens after Xibalba 2026?

The photographs will be stored only temporarily.

After the Xibalba 2026 activities have ended, the photographs will be removed from our systems during the week following the event.

Our intention is that photographs submitted for this project will not remain stored indefinitely.

We will not use the photographs for other purposes

Photographs submitted for Xibalba 2026 will not be used for:

  • advertising;
  • commercial campaigns;
  • sale or distribution;
  • promotion of products or services;
  • promotional social media;
  • other events;
  • other projects;
  • any other purpose unrelated to the Xibalba 2026 activities described above.

Participation is voluntary

Submitting a photograph is completely voluntary.

By submitting a photograph, the person providing it confirms that they have the right to share the photograph and that they wish it to be used as part of the Xibalba 2026 activities described on this page.

If you do not wish a photograph to be displayed in these spaces, simply do not submit it.

About photographs of people who have died

We understand that many of the photographs submitted will be of people who are no longer with us. Photographs of animals who have been part of our lives may also be submitted.

The purpose of this initiative is to treat these images with respect and to use them only within the cultural and commemorative context of Xibalba 2026.
